The SJRYC swim team program is designed to provide swim instruction and competitive training for age group swimmers. The program will promote competitive swimming for all levels of ability. The purpose is to give both experienced and novice swimmers the opportunity to compete and to improve their skills.
Requirements: Swimmers must be able to swim one length of a 25-yard pool and their families must be members of the St. Joseph River Yacht Club.
Swim meets: The SJRYC swim team competes in a swim league through the Michiana Association of Private Swim Clubs (MAPSC).
Group expectations:
Advanced swimmers are able to swim extended workouts and sets. Typically these kids have been on a swim team for several years. They must be able to swim 500 yards (20 lengths) without stopping. 3 practices per week, 90 minutes per practice.
Intermediate swimmers are able to swim all four strokes somewhat proficiently. They must be able to swim 100 yards (4 lengths) without stopping. 3 practices per week, 60 minutes per practice.
