Welcome to the online home of the St. Joseph River Yacht Club

Since 1962, the Saint Joseph River Yacht Club (SJRYC) has served as a center of aquatic activities every summer.  The move to the historic Lighthouse Depot in 2003 presented members with the finest outdoor pool in Southwest Michigan.  Families enjoy recreational and competitive water sports in beautiful facilities built by Waterfront Crossing and Paddock Pools, SJRYC's first pool builder.  The physical plant and environs are matched only by the friendly and professional staff and the wide variety of activities available to members, their families and guests.

This "Swimming" area of sjryc.com has been organized into the following sections:

  • Swim Team - overview of SJRYC's swim team, important info on practices, meets

  • News - location for up-to-date messages and notices on all things pool related

  • History - past team photos, results, records

  • Pool Info – hours of operation, pool rules, pool contact details, parties/rentals

Whether it's getting a refreshing workout with the rising sun, relaxing poolside overlooking St. Joseph or watching the swim team win another meet, SJRYC is THE place to be in the summer!

Masters Swim/Adult Lap Swim - updated for 2008

SJRYC offers a morning Masters swim/adult lap swim before the swim team practices.  These sessions run from 6-8 am four days a week (M, Tues, W, F).  This session is open to the first 20 paid adult Club Members (age 18 or over) who would like to workout in the morning.  All ability levels are welcome, from the most serious swimmer to those who only want to kick or Aqua Jog.  Attendance is not mandatory - Come when you can - don't worry when you can't.  For further questions about this group or to signup, please contact Christine Borah.  The fee for the 2008 season is $60.  There is a lifeguard on duty during this time.

Additionally, an "adult swim" is called every hour during regular pool hours.  From quarter of until the hour, the pool is available for adults to lap swim or simply to "quiet swim" with no children in the pool.  The lifeguard is off duty during this 15 minute period.

Swim Lessons

Most members of the SJRYC aquatic staff are available for private swim lessons.  The club does not arrange group lessons;  all lessons can be arranged on an individual basis with a staff member of your choice.  The coaches and lifeguards at SJRYC all have strong backgrounds in swimming and in working with children.
