SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

1          RULES

The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing.

 

2          ENTRIES

Competitors may enter by delivering a completed entry form and paying the entry fee online or mailing to

Or hand delivered prior to the Skipper’s Meeting at 9:00 am on June 7, 2008.

 

3          NOTICES TO COMPETITORS

Notices to competitors will be posted on the official notice board located in the lobby or on the grounds of the SJRYC Lighthouse Depot building.  And prior to the day of the event posted at www.rhumblineregatta.com

 

4          SIGNALS MADE ASHORE

Signals made ashore will be displayed from the flagpole located by the Rhumbline Bar, next to the swimming pool at the SJRYC. If a postponement is signaled ashore, the audible warning signal will be made not less than 15 minutes after AP is lowered.

 

5          SCHEDULE and CLASS FLAG

A competitors’ meeting will be held at 9:00 A.M., Saturday, June 7, 2008 at the SJRYC. The warning signal for the first section will be at 10:30 am.  The class flags will be provided at the Skippers Meeting.

 

6          CLASS FLAGS

Classes will start in the following order, Section I, Section II, Section III, and Section IV (if other sections have signed up they will follow in order as presented at the skippers meeting).

 

7          RACING AREA

The racing area will be around the permanent markers of the SJRYC Sail Racing Fleet as well as additional inflatable markers.  A map will be distributed at the Skipper’s Meeting.

 

8          COURSE and MARKS

The course will be announced at the Skipper’s Meeting.  All marks will be cylindrical swim buoys as well as inflatable orange and yellow inflatable tetrahedrons.

 

9          STARTING AND FINISHING LINES; STARTING SYSTEM

The starting and finishing lines will be between the Committee Boat and a marker. The Sound Signal Starting System of Appendix Q will be used.

 

10         TIME LIMIT

The time limit for each Section will be five (5) hours for the first boat to finish. Boats finishing more than 60 minutes after the first boat in their respective Section will be scored DNF. This changes RRS 35.

 

11         PROTESTS

Written protests shall be delivered to the Race Committee within 30 minutes after the race committee boat docks. The protest time limit and a list of protests received will be posted on the notice board. Hearings will be held as soon as possible after the race in the Board Room of the SJRYC.

 

12         SCORING

This is a single race regatta and the winner will be determined using the LMPHRF Time-on-Distance formula.

 

13         TROPHIES

Awards will be presented to the first three (3) boats in each Section.
