NOTICE OF RACE

1          RULES

1.1        The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.

1.2        No national authority prescriptions will apply.

 

2          ADVERTISING

2.1        Advertising will be allowed as described under Category C.

 

3          ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

3.1       The regatta is open to all boats that present a valid LMPHRF rating certificate.  Jib & main boats not presenting a LMPHRF certificate will be assigned a rating similar to other boats of their design plus a 10 second penalty by the race committee which will not be grounds for protest by the boat without a certificate

3.2       Eligible boats may enter on-line or by completing the attached form and sending it, together with the required fee, to

4          CLASSIFICATION

4.1        The ISAF Sailor Classification Code will apply.

 

5          FEES

5.1        The fee for the regatta is $50.00 if you sign up by June 2 and $75 thereafter.

 

6          SCHEDULE

6.1        Registration:

                        Saturday June 7, 2008

                        8:00 AM - 9:00 am

 

            Early registrations (PREFERRED) will be accepted by mail or can be made on-line at www.sjryc.com

 

6.2        The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race is 10:30 am

 

7          MEASUREMENTS

            Each Spinnaker boat shall produce a valid LMPHRF rating certificate. Jib & Main boats that do not have a valid LMPHRF rating certificate will be assigned a rating by the R/C.  This rating shall be final and not grounds for protest.

 

8          SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

8.1        The sailing instructions will be available online at www.rhumblineregatta.com.  Hard copies will be distributed at the Skipper’s Meeting the day of the event.

 

9          VENUE

9.1        Attachment “A” shows the location of the regatta harbor.

9.2        Attachment “B” shows the location of the racing area and fixed buoy locations.

 

10         THE COURSES

10.1      Course information will be distributed at the Skippers Meeting


11         PENALTY SYSTEM

11.1      Decisions of the protest committee will be final as provided in rule 70.4.

 

12         SCORING

12.1      The scoring system is as follows LMPHRF Time on Distance.

 

13         SUPPORT BOATS

13.1      Support boats shall be marked with R/C flags and a SJRYC Burgee.

 

14         BERTHING

14.1      Boats shall be kept in their assigned places in the City of Saint Joseph West Basin Municipal Marina.  Visitors will be permitted to raft in the Municipal Marina.  Please raft behind other competitors slips so as not to block boats that are not participants in the regatta.  Competitors’ slips will be marked in some noticeable fashion.

 

15         HAUL-OUT RESTRICTIONS

15.1      Keel boats shall not be hauled out during the regatta except with and according to the terms of prior written permission of the race committee.

 

16         DIVING EQUIPMENT AND PLASTIC POOLS

16.1      Underwater breathing apparatus and plastic pools or their equivalent shall not be used around keelboats between the preparatory signal of the first race and the end of the regatta.

 

17         RADIO COMMUNICATION

17.1      A boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones.

 

18         PRIZES

18.1      Prizes will be awarded to the first three boats in each Section.  There will be no overall regatta winning award issued.

 

19         DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY

19.1      Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.

 

20         INSURANCE

20.1      Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of $100,000 per event or the equivalent.

 

21         PHOTOGRAPHERS AND TV RIGHTS

21.1      Competitors give absolute right and permission for any photographs or video footage taken of themselves or their competing boat to be published in any media whatsoever; for either editorial or advertising purposes, or to be used in press information.”
