Tri-State Regatta 2013 Recap
After the fleet got hammered by a brief but strong storm during the pre-start period in Chicago last Friday night, great conditions prevailed for a very fast race to St. Jos. and a great showing by our club's racers.
There was a SJRYC sweep of the top 3 finishes in Section 4 with Jud Brown's Silk taking a first followed by; Tom Jacobs' Dandelion; and Jeff Alisch's Rush.
In Section 5 Jim DeVries' Cynthia took a 1st
In the Cruising Spin Section; Kelley Kern's team on Chateau Ste. Michelle took a first, and Byron Higgin's La Vieve came in 3rd.
Another great party occured on Saturday, this year in great weather. SJRYC presented a partnership and appreciation award to the Columbia Yacht Club for over 70 years of collaboration on the Regatta.
A great job by all the volunteers; the club staff and event chairs Joyce Shellito and Janet Kleinhemple for putting on a very well attended and received event. Give them a big THANK YOU when you see them
On Sunday, in much lighter conditions, Dirk Kruger's Sea Raider took a 1st and Rush again took a 3rd in their section, and Cynthia repeated a 1st Place finish in Section 5.
Congratualtions to all these St. Jos. sail-racers for a great performance.
A VERY SPECIAL NOTE OF APPRECIATION to Mike Thieneman for hosting the Race Committees for the leg 1 finish, and the leg 2 start on his beautiful global cruiser, Cheshire Cat.
Great Racing and another year for the Best Party on the Lake!
