Sound Wave brings Surfing Music to the Rhumbline
7/3/09 - 7pm to 11pm

For several years Yacht Club members have been requesting a “surfing beach party” with music that we all remember from summers past and the band SoundWave promises to do just that. “Fun-time Rock & Roll” best describes this beach band from Mishawaka, Indiana. Bringing decades of experience, the members include Jenny Yuhasz on drums, Joe Gyarmati on lead guitar and vocals, Sally Barber on bass and Jeff Leslie on ukulele and vocals. The playlist will include music by The Beach Boys, The Ventures, Jimmy Buffett, Carl Perkins, The Doors, Jan and Dean, The Beatles, Little Richard, The Kinks and more! Catch the wave…..the SoundWave!
Lobster/Clam Bake
7/11/09 - 7pm to 11pm
There may be no finer event at the club this year than our 1st Annual Lobster/Clam Bake that will also include LIVE MUSIC by Kevin Henry. This "reservations only" event is certain to sell out quickly as we offer an amazing dinner consisting of Live Lobster and Clams in addition to Corn-on-the-Cob, Red Potatoes, Shrimp and Clam Chowder. The cost for this event will be $30.00 per person with reservations required. We will need to know how many lobsters to order so please call the club and reserve your spot (269-983-6393). Due to the volume of the steamer we purchased for this event attendance will be limited to the first 70 people that sign up, this event will be a lot of fun.
SJRYC Summer Book Club
Next Meeting - July 25th
Announcing the SJRYC Summer Book Club.
Join us! This summer, the SJRYC will offer an organized Summer Book Club. Avid readers and those who haven’t opened a book in years will likely find something to encourage joining our book club. We will be reading a designated book each month. At the conclusion of each month we will meet at the club for discussion.
Our Next meeting is planned for Sunday, July 25th at 4:00 p.m. at the SJRYC to discuss this month's selection.
JULY
The Maltese Falcon by Dashiell Hammett. This is a classic detective novel featuring one of the best known gumshoes, Sam Spade. Famously made into a movie starring Humphrey Bogart, it is a book packed with action and mystery.
AUGUST
The Alienist by Caleb Carr. This is a novel that depicts the birth of psychological profilers, or alienists. The setting is 1896, New York City and is fast paced and gripping and “conjures up the Gilded Age and its tarnished underside: verminous tenements and opulent mansions, corrupt cops and flamboyant gangsters.
SEPTEMBER
Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier. Another classic made into a movie several times over, most famously by Alfred Hitchcock. Masking itself frequently as a romance, Rebecca is a novel of mystery and passion, a dark psychological tale of secrets and betrayal.

The SJRYC has officially filled its membership for the 2008 season and established a wait list for the 2009 membership. If you previously submitted an application for membership, were present on last year's waitlist, but were not eligible for a membership, your name will remain on the wait list in the order received.
If you would like to become a member and be placed on the wait list, please fill out a New Member/Wait List application (above) and mail it to the club. Applications may also be picked up at the SJRYC.
We update the list and post it to the website approximately once a month, so if you do not see your name please check again in 1 month.
